Detach accessories and perform the leakage test
Complete these preparation steps before the endoscope enters the manual-cleaning sequence.
Accessory detachment
Remove the AW channel cleaning adapter MH-948, suction valve MH-443, and reusable biopsy valve MB-358; place them in detergent solution for separate accessory reprocessing.
If a single-use biopsy valve MAJ-1555 was used, detach and discard it according to policy. Do not reprocess or reuse it.
Detach the auxiliary water tube MAJ-855 and place it in detergent solution for separate reprocessing. The ScopeBuddy Plus forward-water connector will be used on the auxiliary water inlet during powered flushing.
Leakage-test sequence
Fill a clean, large basin with reprocessing water.
Connect the MB-155 leakage tester to the MU-1 output socket and turn the maintenance unit on.
Depress the pin inside the tester’s connector cap and confirm that air is emitted.
Confirm that the tester connector cap and the endoscope venting connector are completely dry. Push the cap onto the venting connector and rotate it clockwise until it stops.
With the tester attached, immerse the endoscope and observe it for approximately 30 seconds while operating both angulation controls.
Look for a continuous series of bubbles from any location or channel opening. If a leak is found, remove the endoscope with the tester still attached and follow Olympus repair instructions.
After a passing test, remove the endoscope from the water with the tester still attached and turn the MU-1 off.
Disconnect the tester from the MU-1 before disconnecting it from the endoscope.
Wait 30 seconds, or until the bending-section covering returns to its normal size, and then detach the tester from the endoscope.
Thoroughly dry the leakage tester with a clean lint-free cloth.

Complete manual-cleaning sequence
The steps below follow Section 5.5 in order and retain the verified adapters, brush directions, repetitions, volumes, and time requirements.

Prepare the detergent and scope
Detergent basin • cloths, brushes, or sponges
Confirm the exact scope model. For PCF-H190L/I, set the flexibility adjustment ring to its most flexible position before immersion.
Fill a clean, large basin with fresh medical-grade, low-foaming, neutral-pH detergent solution.
Use the detergent manufacturer’s specified concentration, temperature, contact time, and expiration. Do not reuse the solution.

Clean the exterior
Scope remains immersed
Immerse the endoscope in the detergent solution.
Thoroughly brush or wipe every external surface using clean lint-free cloths, brushes, or sponges.
Give special attention to the distal-end air/water nozzle opening, objective lens, instrument channel outlet, and auxiliary water opening.
Confirm that visible debris has been removed from every distal-end surface.

Brush from the suction cylinder to the distal end
BW-412T or BW-20T channel brush
Straighten the bending section and keep the endoscope immersed.
Grip the brush about 3 cm from the bristles.
Insert it at approximately a 45-degree angle into the side-wall opening of the suction cylinder.
Use short strokes to advance the brush until it exits the distal instrument channel outlet.
Inspect the bristles and clean away debris in the detergent solution with gloved fingertips.
Carefully pull the brush back through the instrument and suction channels until it exits the suction cylinder.
Inspect and clean the bristles again.
Repeat the entire forward-and-return pass until no debris is seen on the brush.

Brush from the suction cylinder to the connector
BW-412T or BW-20T channel brush
Grip the brush about 3 cm from the bristles.
Insert it straight into the suction cylinder.
Use short strokes to advance it through the suction channel until it exits the suction connector on the endoscope connector.
Inspect the bristles and clean away any debris in detergent solution.
Carefully pull the brush back through the channel and out of the suction cylinder.
Inspect and clean the bristles again.
Repeat the entire forward-and-return pass until no debris is observed.

Brush the suction cylinder and channel port
BW-412T opening brush or MH-507
Insert the opening brush into the suction cylinder only until half of the brush section is inside.
Rotate it one full revolution, withdraw it, inspect the bristles, and clean away debris.
Repeat the suction-cylinder brushing cycle until no debris is observed.
Insert the opening brush into the instrument channel port until the brush handle reaches the opening.
Rotate it one full revolution, withdraw it, inspect the bristles, and clean away debris.
Repeat the channel-port brushing cycle until no debris is observed.
Remove the endoscope from the detergent solution.

Connect ScopeBuddy Plus for aspiration
SB-110-HU1007 • SB-110-HU1017 • MH-944
Before beginning aspiration, confirm that the ScopeBuddy Plus daily setup, tubing installation, dosing verification, and approved scope program are complete.
Connect the universal connector from the ScopeBuddy Plus Olympus tubing set to the scope.
Attach the auxiliary connector to the scope’s auxiliary water inlet.
Connect the air-pipe connector to the scope’s air pipe.
Connect the suction connector to the scope’s suction connector.
Plug the SB-110-HU1017 air/water inlet connector into the scope’s air/water inlet.
Insert the MH-944 air/water plug into the air/water cylinder and its suction plug into the suction cylinder.
Push the plug frame toward the control section, then slide it toward remote switch 1 until it locks.
Leave the MH-944 biopsy-valve cap off the instrument channel port for the aspiration step.
Remove the pump-tubing strainer from the ScopeBuddy Plus universal connector for aspiration.
Clamp both pinch clips before beginning aspiration.
Verify that every connector is fully seated, the pump-tubing strainer is removed, both pinch clips are clamped, and the tubing is secure and unkinked.

Aspirate detergent with ScopeBuddy Plus
Connected SB-110-HU1007 • SB-110-HU1017 • MH-944
Verify that SB-110-HU1007, SB-110-HU1017, and MH-944 remain correctly connected, the biopsy-valve cap remains off, the pump-tubing strainer remains removed, and both pinch clips remain clamped before starting aspiration.
Prepare the ScopeBuddy Plus aspiration function exactly as directed by its current operator manual and your validated facility procedure.
Immerse the insertion section’s distal end in detergent solution.
Run the aspiration function through the instrument and suction pathways for approximately 30 seconds, or use the facility-validated setting that meets or exceeds the Olympus requirement.
Confirm that detergent is moving through the intended pathways and allow the programmed aspiration step to finish.

Flush detergent with ScopeBuddy Plus
Powered detergent flush
Before flushing, reinstall the pump-tubing strainer on the ScopeBuddy Plus universal connector.
After aspiration, change the two pinch clips from the aspiration configuration to the facility-validated flushing configuration.
Place the ScopeBuddy Plus fluid-intake tubing in the correctly prepared fresh detergent solution.
Select the approved manual or automatic flushing workflow for this Olympus gastro/colonoscope setup.
Run the detergent-flush step using the validated program that meets or exceeds the Olympus requirements: 90 mL through the air/water channel and one filled 30 mL syringe-equivalent through the auxiliary water channel.
Observe the distal openings during the cycle and confirm unobstructed detergent flow.
Allow the programmed flush to finish; do not disconnect the approved hookup before the detergent soak.

Complete the detergent soak
Scope remains connected to approved hookup
While immersed, wipe the endoscope and immersed reusable accessories to remove debris.
Keep the endoscope immersed for the detergent manufacturer’s required contact time while maintaining the approved ScopeBuddy Plus hookup.
Remove the endoscope from the detergent solution with the flushing hookup still connected for the rinse phase.

Rinse and flush with ScopeBuddy Plus
Powered water rinse
Fill a clean, large basin with fresh potable or appropriately processed reprocessing water.
Immerse the endoscope with the approved hookup attached and gently agitate the scope to rinse its external surfaces.
Move the ScopeBuddy Plus fluid-intake tubing to the clean rinse water according to the operator manual and facility procedure.
Run the programmed rinse flush so the suction channel receives at least 90 mL of water, the air/water channel receives at least 90 mL, and the auxiliary water channel receives 30 mL.
Observe each distal opening and confirm unobstructed water flow throughout the rinse cycle.
Allow the programmed rinse to finish before removing the scope from the water.

Air purge with ScopeBuddy Plus
ScopeBuddy Plus air-purge function
Remove the endoscope from the rinse water with the approved hookup attached and place it in a clean basin.
Cover the distal end and control section with clean lint-free cloths to limit splashing.
Select the ScopeBuddy Plus air-purge function.
Run the validated air-purge program so the suction channel receives at least 90 mL of air, the air/water channel receives at least 90 mL, and the auxiliary water channel receives 30 mL.
Confirm that residual liquid is expelled from each intended distal opening.
Remove the protective cloths.
Disconnect the ScopeBuddy Plus tubing, SB-110-HU1017 cap, and MH-944 channel plug according to their instructions.

Dry and inspect
Clean lint-free cloths
Dry the external surfaces of the endoscope, MH-944, and other reusable accessories.
Inspect every item for residual debris.
If any debris remains, repeat the entire manual-cleaning procedure until all debris is removed.
Continue with the separately required reprocessing steps for the reusable accessories.
Retain or replace the ScopeBuddy Plus 24-hour tubing according to its current IFU and facility policy.

Keep the endoscope immersed while brushing to reduce splashing.
Do not insert a channel brush backward through the distal instrument channel outlet or suction connector.
Do not coil the insertion section or universal cord tighter than a 40 cm diameter.
Inspect brushes before and after use; immediately address any missing brush part.
Do not reuse detergent solution or a BW-412T single-use brush.
